Ensuring the well-being of citizens is a priority for Podemos Sóller. It idñs the Town Hall’s job to guarantee services, facilities and programs that support and help people at every stage of life, from childhood to old age.

Fortunately, life expectancy has increased in recent years. But our senior citizens now have free time that may need to be filled. Other elderly people will have special needs. A preference for growing old at home presens other challenges and we need to accept that a significant proportion of the population of Sóller will eventually need care.

We need to guarantee that older people can live with dignity and take an active part in our society. We must also create spaces in which they can develop and live a full life.

Therefore:

• We will open a new day center, preferably in Port Sóller.
• We will ensure compliance with the terms of the contract with the Bell Entorn Residence.
• We will tackle digital exclusion, with training programs, and solutions for banking and other issues that directly affect the elderly.
• We will develop a municipal plan for the elderly that prioritizes well-being at this stage of life.
• We will promote dignified, active, autonomous and healthy aging. We will expand home-care services, telecare and community support programs to avoid situations of isolation, loneliness or helplessness.
• We will make streets and sidewalks accessible, reducing the risks posed by architectural barriers.
